Understanding HBOT

What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HBOT is an FDA-cleared medical treatment where you breathe 100% pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber at 2–3 times normal atmospheric pressure. This delivers 10–15× more oxygen to damaged, oxygen-starved tissue — accelerating wound healing, fighting infection, and stimulating new blood vessel growth when standard care falls short.

Enhanced Oxygen Delivery

HBOT delivers 10–15× more dissolved oxygen to damaged tissue than normal breathing — oxygen that reaches tissue red blood cells alone can't deliver.

Stimulates Angiogenesis

The elevated oxygen promotes new blood vessel growth, restoring circulation to tissue that had lost its blood supply — the core mechanism behind wound healing.

Fights Infection

Enhanced oxygenation boosts white blood cell effectiveness, helping antibiotics fight deep-tissue infections that resisted standard treatment.

Accelerates Healing

By increasing oxygen at the cellular level, HBOT reduces inflammation and stimulates fibroblast activity — accelerating collagen production and wound closure.

FDA-Cleared & Insurance-Covered

Conditions HBOT Treats

Medicare and most major insurers cover HBOT for these specific conditions. Our physicians evaluate whether your wound or condition qualifies.

Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Wagner Grade 3+ ulcers not improving after 30 days of standard wound care.

Radiation Tissue Damage

Osteoradionecrosis, radiation cystitis, radiation proctitis, and soft tissue radionecrosis.

Refractory Osteomyelitis

Chronic bone infection unresponsive to standard antibiotic and surgical treatment.

Compromised Skin Grafts

Failed or failing skin grafts and flaps — HBOT improves survival and reduces necrosis.

Crush Injuries

Acute traumatic ischemia and severe crush injuries requiring enhanced oxygen delivery.

Gas Gangrene

Clostridial myonecrosis and select serious infections requiring hyperoxygenation.

Air or Gas Embolism

Air or gas bubbles trapped in the bloodstream, causing dangerous blockages. HBOT reduces bubble size and restores circulation.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Including cases from smoke inhalation or faulty exhaust. HBOT rapidly clears carbon monoxide from blood and tissues.

Decompression Sickness

Commonly known as 'the bends.' HBOT dissolves residual nitrogen bubbles and restores normal tissue oxygenation.

Severe Anemia

Exceptional blood loss when blood transfusions are not an option. HBOT delivers dissolved oxygen directly into plasma.

Intracranial Abcess

A localized pocket of infection in the brain. HBOT enhances antibiotic effectiveness and supports healing in this delicate area.

Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections

Severe 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections. HBOT halts toxin production and supports surgical and antibiotic treatment.

Acute Thermal Burns

Severe burns from fire, electricity, or chemicals. HBOT reduces swelling and accelerates skin graft integration.

Central Retinal Artery Occlusion

Sudden, severe blockage of blood flow to the retina. HBOT delivers oxygen to oxygen-starved retinal tissue.

Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Unexplained, rapid hearing loss in one or both ears. HBOT increases oxygen supply to the inner ear, supporting recovery.

Inside the Chamber

What Patients Can Expect

A comfortable, physician-supervised experience in a state-of-the-art clear hyperbaric chamber — designed around your healing and your peace of mind.

10–15× More Oxygen

You breathe 100% pure oxygen at 2–3 times atmospheric pressure — delivering healing oxygen directly to damaged tissue that red blood cells alone can't reach.

Clear, Open Chamber

Our chambers are fully clear (monoplace). You can see out, communicate with staff at every moment, and never feel trapped or enclosed in a dark space.

Mild Pressure Initially

Most patients feel only mild ear pressure during the first few minutes — similar to an airplane descent — relieved by yawning or swallowing. After that, sessions are comfortable and relaxing.

Relaxing Environment

Many patients read, watch TV, or nap during treatment. Every session is physician-supervised and designed for comfort, not discomfort.

60–120 Minutes Per Session

Each session lasts 60–120 minutes. Treatment plans are individualized — typically 20–40 sessions scheduled Monday through Thursday.

Physician-Supervised

Board-certified hyperbaric physicians oversee every session. Trained hyperbaric nurses monitor you continuously throughout treatment.
